Our Story

Founded in 2004 on Long Beach Island, NJ, How You Brewin is a full-service coffee retail company with locations in Surf City (NJ), Barnegat Light (NJ), and Pompano Beach (FL).

What we do 
Our mission is to "curate a hub of one-anothering." This starts with delicious, locally-roasted coffee, great service, exemplary eats and plentiful seating in a calming atmosphere just steps from the beach. 

Why we do it
We. Love. Coffee. And more than coffee, we love our community. Creating a meeting place for people like you to meet, drink coffee, foster personal relationships and a sense of community fulfills both of these great loves of ours. In fostering this welcoming space, we hope to play a hand in your memories, your school work, your business meetings, your coffee dates and whatever else you do here. As we say often, “We don’t serve coffee to people, we serve people with coffee.” 

Fearless leaders
Dan and Lori Malay are high school sweethearts and Long Beach Island (NJ) locals who also have a love for their second home in Broward County, FL. It is often said that Dan works on the business and Lori works in the business. Regardless, their strong professional partnership is an extension and representation of their life-long relationship. 

Their love of the industry is evident from the moment you cross the HYB threshold where there lies a happy staff, meticulously-kept dining area, delicious coffee and cozy seating options. 

The pair are committed to personal and professional growth and are devoted to sharing industry knowledge with their staff so as to create a sense of belonging. How You Brewin isn't just "a place to work." Staff and family are one and the same.
